Button Details
To customize what a button does and how it looks:
1) Under “Button Data,” select the button Type: It can be a shortcut to an Item for checkout, it can open a new Panel with a sub-menu, perform an Action, or open a WebView (webpage).
2) The next field will give you different options depending on which Type you selected.
- If it’s an Item, specify which item.
- If it’s a Panel, a dropdown will appear where you can select which sub-menu (panel) to use; you might need to create a new one.
- If it’s an Action, a dropdown will appear where you can select which action you’d like it to perform, such as Find Item, apply a Discount, Print Shipping Label, Show Applied Price Rules, Show WebDashboard and many more.
- If it’s a WebView, enter the URL of the webpage it should lead to.
3) Next, enter what the button should say in the Captions fields. Each caption adds another line of text to the button; one line is recommended, but you can use up to three. Each caption can be customized for font, font size, font color and text alignment. Certain fonts, such as Tahoma, allow you to select a script for different languages, such as Hebrew or Vietnamese.
4) Select the button Color, if you want it to differ from the default color.
5) The Height and Width fields on bottom customize how many button spaces the button takes up. Height can be as many button spaces as are available (1-15). Width can either be 1 for a button that takes up half the width of a panel (the width of 1 button) or 2 for a button that takes up the full width of the panel.
Useful Shortcuts
An example of a useful shortcut is an item that cannot have a label, such as a small keychain. You can use the shortcut instead of scanning a barcode or typing it in.
Another useful shortcut is an item that is used frequently.
You can also create shortcuts to frequently used pages in the backend.
