Grid Setup

First Choice POS is based on sophisticated yet simple reports. This is what allows the flexibility and effortless customization we’re known for.

You can decide which columns to show, what the columns look like, column order and more.

To customize reports, select Edit Layout  above the report (or table) you’re working on.

Note: Grids can be customized for Customer Orders, Purchase Orders, Bulk Pivot Editor, Supplier Items, Item Suppliers, Bulk Edit Items, Print Labels, POS Entries and Bulk Order Service. If your grid doesn't show the Edit Layout option, speak to your administrator to change it for you (Agent > Grid Settings).

Grid Settings

The top menu of Grid Setup sets what you can do with the grid:

  • Groupable – view items in the grid grouped by that column (e.g. items grouped by lookup code or pivot table); use this feature by dragging the column header into the specified space above the grid

  • Sortable – sort items by clicking on the name of any column to sort ascending ↑ or descending ↓
  • Sort Multiple – sort multiple columns at a time (e.g. sort by Price, then Name)
  • Resizable – drag column gridlines to adjust column widths
  • Reorderable – drag columns before and after each other; use Sort Mode  at the top of the page to sort columns from this Grid Setup page (drag rows up and down)
  • Scrollable – shows only a few rows in the grid and has a scrollbar on the right to view the rest, instead of the list pushing the rest of the page contents down
  • Selectable – click anywhere on a row to select it (not just the checkbox)
  • Select Multiple – click and drag the mouse to select multiple rows
  • Navigatable – move around the table using the arrow keys; to move to cells on the right or left, hold CTRL while using the arrows (otherwise it moves right and left inside the cell); some grids, such as Purchase Orders and Customer Orders, are permanently navigatable
  • Width Stretch – checks “stretch” for all the fields (below, in the Grid Setup table); stretches columns to full width and shows a horizontal scrollbar on the bottom of the grid if the browser window isn’t wide enough to fit all widened columns
  • Column Menu – shows 3 dots above each column with a menu to Sort Ascending, Sort Descending and select which columns to view and hide

  • Has Toolbar – shows a toolbar above the grid for additional actions, such as Add New Record and Save Changes; some grids have the toolbar permanently enabled or disabled
  • Filterable – shows funnel  above each column where you can filter the column to show only items that:
    • Contains _____
    • Starts with _____
    • Is equal to _____
    • Is not equal to _____
    • Is greater than or equal to _____
    • Is greater than _____
    • Is less than or equal to _____
    • Is less than _____
    • Does not contain _____
    • Ends with _____
    • Is empty
    • Is not empty
    • Is not null
    • Is null
  • Filterable Row Mode – provides a row near the filter icons to type the filter word (or number) without added steps; many grids have this permanently enabled
  • Pageable (checkbox on bottom of Grid Setting page) – adds pages if there are many rows on the grid

Fields

For each column, you can determine:

  • Field – which field it calls up
  • Title – what it’s called on the grid (for example, if a user wants to call a column something else)
  • Tooltip – information given when user hovers over the column name
  • Width – a specific column width, in pixels
  • Stretch – stretches column to full width
  • Hidden – hides column (check to hide, x to not hide)
  • Permission – shows which permission is needed to show this column, as set in Security Groups (for example, if you don’t want everyone to see item cost)
